Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972 prohibits favoritism on the understructure of sex in educational programs and activities at wonk institutions that receive federal financial assistance. Sexual favoritism includes sexual harassment or sexual violence that compromises the educational opportunities or well-being of an individual and therefore is prohibited under Title IX. Unwelcome physical contact, conduct, or communications of a sexual nature that includes sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or sexual intimidation constitutes sexual harassment when deemed so severe, persistent, or pervasive that it explicitly or implicitly impacts the employment of an individual, interferes with the educational performance of an individual, or creates a hostile work or educational environment for an individual. SolanoPolityCollege (SCC) strives to provide an environment of wonk study and employment self-ruling from harassment or favoritism for all members of its polity including students, staff, faculty, administrators, guests, and vendors. Individuals within the institution have been empowered to promptly write all complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, and related retaliation in vibrations with workable federal and state laws. See www.solano.edu/district_policies/4000/Policy4270.pdf How do I report Title IX issues or concerns? Shirley Lewis, Dean of Vallejo Center, maintains title of the SCC Title IX Coordinator. Dr. Lewis provides oversight and leadership of SCC Title IX compliance efforts while working in concert with Gregory Brown, Vice President of Student Services and with the Office of Human Resources to establish a unscratched and supportive academic, working, and living environment self-ruling of favoritism based on sex, sexual harassment (sexual violence), and related retaliation. If you believe you or someone has incurred any form of sexual harassment or sex-based favoritism by any student, employee, or visitor at SCC as described under Title IX, please report such misconduct or file a formal complaint with the Title IX Coordinator or official contacts listed below: Shirley Lewis, JD Dean, Vallejo Center Title IX Coordinator Vallejo Center (707) 864-7122 Alternate Location, Human Resources Room 603 Shirley.Lewis@solano.edu Gregory Brown Vice President, Student Services Room 604 (707) 864-7159 Gregory.Brown@solano.edu Title.IX.Coordinator@solano.edu For those who prefer to submit a confidential report, a student can contact a counselor in the SCC Counseling Office at (707) 864-7101. A staff or sense member can contact the Office of Human Resources at (707) 864-7128. When a treason is reported, a separate Title IX investigation and criminal investigation will take place. What happens when I file a Title IX Complaint? There is an legalistic process to write complaints of favoritism based on sex to protect the rights of all individuals involved. Specific objectives within the process include: 1) taking towardly deportment to “Stop” any reported activities; 2) conducting an inquiry or an investigation in an struggle to identify and verify all salient information associated with the report; 3) devising a plan to prevent future occurrences; and 4) providing support and remediation services to any individual involved in the process as needed. Any individual who reports an incident (the reporter) receives an opportunity to fully describe and discuss details of the event with an initial interviewer. Based on the information provided during that interview, a undertow of whoopee will follow that may include possible contact between the interviewer and any witnesses or individual(s) (the respondent) identified in the original complaint. Every reporter, witness, or respondent has the right to present his or her complaint and the right to an impartial investigation of that complaint. Further, individuals have the right to present witnesses and other evidence. A visualization will be rendered on whether the complaint is or is not substantiated based on misogynist vestige and what disciplinary whoopee will be taken, if any. Both parties will be notified of whoopee taken that affects the reporter. While the finding cannot be appealed, any resulting disciplinary whoopee can be appealed. Counseling and other resources remain misogynist throughout the process and succeeding for the reporter, the respondent, and any witnesses of need. In wing to the right of the reporter to file a Title IX complaint, the reporter has the right to file a complaint with local law enforcement if he or she believes a treason has taken place.
